Celebrating Daddy's Birthday

Whitney and I were excited to spend the weekend celebrating Ryan's birthday.  He got off of work early and tried to take a little snooze with Whitney but she just wanted to play!  By the time we were ready to leave for his birthday dinner at Montgomery Inn, she was still awake and was about 2 hours short of her usual daily naps.  I even said as we were walking out of the door, "this is going to be bad."  I just wasn't sure I how bad it was going to be for us.

Whit usually loves being out and doesn't cry at all, especially for me or Ryan.  Boy was this time different.  We were seated and the happy Whit lasted about 20 minutes, just enough time to feed her and then she let loose!  Unlike Red Robin, Montgomery Inn is rather quiet and her cry seemed louder than ever as I tried to sing and calm her down.  To make a long story short, Ryan and his parents ate their meals (quickly Im assuming...poor guys) as I walked up and down the hallway trying everything to get her to stop crying.  Once he was done eating, Ryan came rushing out with all of our stuff and Jim and Elaine stayed behind to bring my untouched meal back to our house.  Wouldn't you know that on the way home she giggled and smiled from her car seat....not one whine or cry!!!  Moral of the story, do not take a teething tired baby out to a nice restaurant and expect to have a glorious celebration.  Sorry Ryan :)

The next day we were headed to my parents house for a pool party and dinner for Ryan.  I packed what seemed like our whole house to ensure she would have everything she needed, even remembered baby orajel and Tylenol.  The first few hours were fine as she let others hold her and even napped for about 40 minutes.  Around dinner time though she just couldn't stand it anymore and let loose again.  If it were me and someone was holding me close, rocking me and singing songs, I would give in and go to sleep.  Not Whitney, she was so tired but would not close her eyes.  Tylenol and orajel helped a little but we scarfed down our delicious desserts and hit the road only to have her smile and sleep the whole way home.  Perhaps we should rent limos or large vehicles for family get togethers since she seems to be okay in her car seat on the move!!!?

We couldnt even get her a bath she was so tired when we got home so she went straight to bed and you can see in the picture below that her dad was not too far behind her:)

Here are some pictures from the beginning of the day at my parents house :)

We are hoping a tooth is on the way and that this isn't a trend that is starting....if it is, I guess we will be spending a lot more time at home!!
