Meredith is ONE!
Our sweet little Mere-bear is one!!
Meredith has turned into a spunky little toddler overnight and loves walking all over the house getting into any and everything she can! She started walking three days before her actual first birthday and has improved immensely in the past week since she began. She stands up in the middle of the room, gets herself steady and then takes off. She is so proud of herself and really hasn't crawled once since the weekend! She still hasn't said any words yet although she does babble a ton and there is no question as to what she wants. She can communicate with the best of them without her words so I think she feel like there isn't a need to start yet! Shes a tough little thing and won't hesitate to show that she doesn't like something by hitting it away or screaming to get her point across. I should say that she does say da da, and whens he is upset she cries and say ma ma ma over and over. (we think she is saying mama and dada but its hard to tell). She also says what we think is "up" for when she wants you to hold her or go up the steps and "dat" for when she is pointing to something that she wants. She makes the same sounds for when she wants to watch elmo on tv or eat food but nothing really concrete yet! Mere does try to imitate what we say some times, like I will say, "YUCK" and she will say "ckk" or we ask her if she pooped and she will always make the same face and sniff the air like its smelly..... haha cracks us up!! Just today she made the T sound over and over again when she was looking for Whitney, so I think she is getting closer to forming those words!
Right now she loves Elmo. The first thing she does in the morning when she wakes is walk straight to the couch, pick up the controller and aim it at the TV, making the noise/babble she makes for Elmo. She will only sit still for Elmo Youtube videos and believe me I feel guilty turning them on but it is literally the only way I can make dinner without her doing something crazy and hurting herself...or continuing to cry and scream at my feet! She also loves going outside to play on the swing set and the play house we have in our backyard. Mere will stand at the door to the house, open it and step out to the grass, walk back in and close it....over and over again. She thinks it is hilarious and will keep her entertained for a good period of time! Meredith has gotten into the habit of playing for a few minutes then finding me so that she can cuddle for half a second and then run back to playing. It is almost as if she needs that reassurance that I am close by and then she can go about doing her things. If I lay on the floor near her she will make a beeline straight to me and lay down on my back, for some reason she loves this "cuddle" time and will do it every time!
As she has since she was born, she LOVES her sister. She does everything Whit does and follows her around all day. Whitney gets the most laughs and smiles from Meredith hands down! She definitely is a little bruiser though. She will fall or bump into something and think nothing of it. Another thing she has found, much to our dismay is the button on the couch that makes the chair recline. She will push those buttons again and again oh and dont forget her love for standing on just about anything she can! Her favorite is the fireplace. She will be so super quiet, get in standing position and then just laugh!!!!!!
Around 10 months she started sleeping all night which in turn made her naps better and Meredith an all around happier baby. She has her moments when she wakes up at night but that is mostly for teething problems. We are SO thankful she sleeps now!! Speaking of teeth, she has six and is working on two more.
At her one year check up she weighed in at 24.2 lbs and was 29 inches long. 90 percentile for weight, and 75 percentile for height. I have mentioned that her head circumference was off the charts big...haha. It means she is smart right??!
