Volunteering
Ryan and I think it is important to volunteer and give back to others and we try to show the girls that in every way possible, but it is often hard with the age range allowed at certain events.
I was so happy to read about a group a mom friend of mine started called Moms on Mission. Its a group of moms that get together twice a month to do volunteer work with their young children. They have an established relationship with a retirement community nearby and also a home for children with disabilities. The girls and I have enjoyed working with the seniors as it reminds us of Granny. Whit has a knack for helping others and has been a true shining light this summer to the people in the community.
On one occasion we made ice cream in a bag at the nursing home. It was fun and very rewarding for all of us. At one point Whitney noticed a lady having trouble eating her ice cream. Without hesitation she grabbed a nearby spoon and helped her take bites. It was a moment I will never forget that showed just how her servant heart works.
Meredith is warming up to the folks and likes to ask everyone what their favorite color is!
The St. Joseph Home is a place in Sharonville that houses children with disabilities. The group has made a connection with them and goes once a month during their play time. The children are so happy to see other little ones and just light up when they interact!
