Go Away Germs!!!

These germs just won't stay away from our house and we are so so very done with it.  We were all healthy over Christmas but right before Whitney's birthday she got strep throat and Ryan had a nasty cold.  Poor Whit handled it well and thankfully we caught it early so the medicine kicked in before she got too miserable.  I however on the other hand didn't fair too well and got strep throat just after the long weekend.  I haven't had that in a long time and boy so I hope I don't get it again anytime soon.  Ryan had to take off work that Tuesday because I was so sick with a fever.  

At the end of that week I had my Christ Renews his Parish weekend and I still wasn't feeling 100% which is why I think I ended up getting another cold that very next week.  Not fun at all.  Ryan and Meredith were spared of the strep germs and all seemed to return to normal after I got over my cold.  

Fast Forward to Super Bowl weekend and I ended up with the Norovirus.  Absolutely miserable!!!  I have never been that sick, ever!  Ryan had to take two days off of work and I literally did not leave my bedroom for over 48 hours.  I am not sure how it happened but NOBODY else got the bug!!  Whew!!

Whit is just getting over a sinus infection and her school cancelled classes on Friday to make it a long four day  weekend (presidnets day).  Her school has been so sick that they hired a special company to come in and disinfect over the long weekend in hope that when school resumes on Tuesday that the germs will be gone!

We are all finally feeling pretty good and this warm weather, 70 degrees here today in Feb, has us all feeling more energized.  Lets hope the germs stay away and we can all enjoy this beautiful weather!!

During our sick and germy period we spent a lot of time inside, just the four of us.  The girls have gotten so close and really do play well together.  In fact, I love the days when Whit is home because Meredith just adores her and loves playing pretend with her rather than me!  When it is just me and Meredith its been a little rough.  She is definitely experiencing the terrible twos and really likes to fight me on every single detail throughout the day.  This week has been a tad better so lets hope that is in the past too!

Two blogs in one day, I know a little much but when you have something to share...you have something to share:) Now some of you might watch the video and think I am crazy but Ryan and I heard Whit say "mama" for the first time today.  She was looking at me and although I do know that it doesn't mean "mom" it made my heart melt!!  As you will see she is very tired so the quality of her words are not the best but she was saying it all day today....you believe me right? haha What a cutie!

tooth or a ham?

Is Whitney getting her first tooth or is she just being a ham?  Yesterday Ryan and I noticed that Whitney was chomping her gums, almost like she was eating something but nothing was in there!!  Today she has added a sound to the chomping that cracks me up.  Only time will tell I guess.  Perhaps it is a tooth but I am guessing that this goes in the file with fake coughing as an attention getter! Check out this video...this has been a constant noise from 7:45 this morning haha!!

Fantasy Football

Football season has arrived which means all the men in our family start using "uh huh" and "mmmm hmmm" as their main vocabulary.  This is especially true on draft day when all of them gather at the Sims house for good food and lots and lots of football talk!  The girls make sure they are "seen and not heard" on this day and usually congregate far away from the madness that ensues inside.  Picture this: 15 or so guys huddled over pages and pages of spreadsheets listing every football player worth anything in the NFL, scrambling to make just the right pick, only to receive 'smack' talk from all the other guys about how that wasn't the pick they would have made.  Bret doesn't mess around and has a larger than life poster to list all the draft picks with color coordinated stickers.....Im telling you if you haven't experienced this you won't believe your eyes!!  Once the draft if over (after about two hours of the above craziness) they a...
