Happy Third Birthday Whitney!!!!!
Wow, already three? Where has the time gone?? It feels just like yesterday that I was feeling her kick in my belly and wondering when she could come out!!
Whit brings so much joy to our lives and we honestly love every second that we get to spend with her. She has such a funny personality, always making silly faces, dancing and saying the funniest things!! This little girl does not miss a beat, literally listens to everything everyone says and will probably never forget it, haha!
I remember last year writing about how grown up she was and how she surprised me with how much she could do. And as I look back on this last year, I am even more blown away. She is so confident, loves talking to people...especially our neighbors and any adult that will listen:) She knows all of her letters and most of the sounds and is very interested in writing and reading. It cracks us up when she writes because for some reason she needs to shake her head back and forth as she gets it down on paper. Seriously as she is writing she shakes her head back and forth..haha not sure why but it is too funny! She can write some of her letters (she isn't super fond of working me with on it...still!) and is starting to enjoy coloring again. Whit has this Ipad game that asks her to identify a group of objects, count them and then find the corresponding number....when I first saw this I thought oh no, this is going to make her frustrated because that is a lot to ask of her and honestly some of my former kindergartners could not do that. But she honestly did it all by her self. She has counting down and I can proudly say she makes sure she touches each object she is counting and even starts over when she gets confused!! Makes her teacher mommy proud:)
Her imagination is crazy. The things she comes up with blows me away. She loves to pretend and make up stories. Her favorite thing is to take turns making up stories. She will give you an idea of what to make the story about and then smiles the whole time you make up the tale. She is pretty good with it too, she can come up with some interesting ones herself. Funny thing is that she is so into imagination...making her dolls talk, having a random object be "grandpa" but then all of the sudden she will say, "hey that cannot happen mom that isnt real!!" For example, there is a tiger that she plays with that likes to eat waffles but every once in awhile when I try to make it a waffle she will look at me like I am crazy and say, "Mom you know this tiger really can't eat right?" haha!
I just mentioned playing grandpa up above and this post would not be complete without mentioning how she plays Grandpa. For those of you that don't know, my Grandpa has been in the hospital a few times this year and in a rehab facility so that he could gain his stregnth back. Whitney and I spent a lot of time checking in on Gramps, visiting him, and helping out with GG while he was away. Because of that she became really interested in Grandpa and why he was weak, needed to stay away from home and use a walker. So she took an interest in him and what was happening. It all began with her being Grandpa. She would fall or need help walking and we would have to get her a cane or help her up...take her to the hospital, etc. Then she started using Mr. Potato Head (a very large one that she can barely carry around) as Gramps. She has him covered in band aids and had treated him for every problem you could ever think of!! Ask anyone who has come over to our house to babysit how much we play the game (Mamaw, Papaw and Kelley have been subjected to this numerous times), or Jenny because I have complained about this to her. :))))
I mean literally she would wake up and say, "lets go get Grandpa" and we would play all morning. I sometimes felt like I was going to lose my mind hahahha!! Thankfully she has moved on from that obsession and we only play that occasionally! She has now moved onto playing seek and find by the way. She takes some of her "guys" (little doc mcstuffins figurines) and likes to hide them around the house for us to find, then it is our turn....and so on.......I just had to put a stop to it this morning actually after we played for over an hour!!! haha!
She is so very excited about being a big sister. When we told her about it back in November she was like okay.......and then didnt say anything for about two weeks. Then she started with all the questions and hasn't stopped since! She is ready for the baby to come out..poor thing doesn't realize how far away July is haha...and talks to my belly all day long. It really melts my heart! She will be the best big sister, I have no doubt about that!! She things it will be a girl and the name of the girl is Keebashabashoe.
We hit a little rough patch in the fall, where it seemed like she cried most of the day. I mean seriously she was asking to go upstairs to her room to calm down a lot, but thankfully that was just a phase. It seems the past few months she has been super happy. I can probably count on my two hands how many times she has cried in the past two months. Not that crying is the biggest factor in being happy or not, but during the fall it was challenging to do certain fun things because she would be so upset at times.
All of that craziness was attributed to lack of sleep without a doubt. On most days she was getting maybe 8 hours total in a 24 hour period....which is insane. Once we got her back into sleeping well, she changed immediately. And even now, we had to skip nap two days in a row and at night she was a mess just like before. Just like all kids, when she is tired each task seems impossible and crying is happens when something doesn't go her way. Moral of the story -- make sure this little girl gets her sleep :)
At her three year old appointment she weighed in at 30 lbs and was 38.5 inches tall!
