Siesta Key

Whitney got to experience the Post/Sims family Thanksgiving tradition this year in Siesta Key.  We were a little apprehensive to fly with a 10 month old, expose her to the sun and be in a strange place....because you know me --Mrs. STRUCTURE-- but we knew it would be worth it to spend the holiday on the beach with family!!

The flights down (yes we unfortunately had a connection) went surprisingly well considering it was during both of her nap times.  She ended up sleeping 30 minutes on each flight and didn't scream or yell too much.  The flight out of ATL was a little stressful as we boarded the plane and ended up sitting there for AN HOUR while they fixed something (all the while not turning on the air so we were melting trying to entertain our lil baby).  I was getting nervous because we only have so many tricks and I honestly had it planned out in my head what to do when to keep her from going crazy.  Thank goodness we had a nice lady sitting next to us who loved babies or it could have been rough:)

Turns out Whitney loves the beach!  She was a huge fan on the sand, the ocean and the pool.  She wasn't even shy with the sand.  After the initial handful in the mouth, she spent time digging and covering her legs with piles and piles of sand!!  Even though the ocean felt a bit nippy to me, she loved putting her toes in it and sitting at the edge of the water to let the waves touch her.  If it weren't for our aching backs, I think she would have stayed down there all day!!

The pool was by far her favorite place to be!!  She wouldn't step foot in my parents pool this summer but we think she accepted this one because it was heated...get that hint Bret...haha:)  The minute we put her in there she was giggling and kicking her legs like a little frog.  I have a feeling that next year we will be spending a majority of our time at the pool!!

Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Kelley and Uncle Caleb just spoiled her rotten with attention.  When we got back to Cincinnati our babysitter Jenny even said, "oh you can tell she has been the center of attention!!"   While down in FL Whitney said "WOW" and "ooooh" constantly.  She also started doing, "how big is Whitney?" and waving her arm to say "come on over."  Whitney didn't end up crawling on vacation...she isn't a huge fan of it. I personally think she is just going to skip crawling and start walking.  While down there she took her first steps while holding onto my hands and has been improving everyday since then.  Jenny even reported that she walked all over the house holding onto her hands today!!

Whit also got to spend time with her pal Rory!!  The two of them loved dancing to music, sharing toys and hugging:)  I just know next time they see each other they will be all over the place together.

We had an amazing time with my family and friends and miss the together time already.  We are hopeful to do it again next year and will be able to add Aunt Meg into the mix because she was missed dearly!!  And for those of you close to us, you know that the flight back and the five days after our return were not pretty...so for me to say we will try it again must mean it was a magnificent time;)
