San Fransicso

Our first attempt at flying was not successful.  We got there at 12:50 for our 3:45 flight, napped like a pro in the stroller and then our flight was delayed until 11:45 pm that evening!!!!  We decided not to stay at wait it out since we were so close to home.  It was a total bummer but its a good thing we came home because the plane didn't end up leaving until after 1:00 am!!!!!!

We went back the same time the very next day and our flight was one time!  The flight out was okay.  Meredith was beyond tired and a five hour flight for her very first time flying was a long one!!  I packed what felt like a billion things to eat on the plane but even that wasn't enough!  There were lots of tears and some drama from both girls but we made it and that is what counts!

We had to make a major detour, my fault with the directions, and ended up having to make an emergency stop for a potty break in the middle of rush hour traffic in downtown San Fran....not ideal!  We learned out lesson and she wore a pull up just in case for the other longer car rides....

Once we got to our hotel, 7 pm local time but 11 pm at home, we decided to go eat because we never did get a proper dinner.  We walked the few blocks to In and Out Burger to try it for the first time.  It was soooo crowded that we had to take it back to our hotel to eat but it was yummy.  We immediately got the girls in bed because we knew they would probably wake up very early the next day.  

Due to losing a day with our messed up flight, we only had Tuesday morning in the city before we needed to head out to Tahoe; guess it was lucky to have a very early wake up call that day haha!

We went straight to the sea lions and they did not disappoint.  Meredith and Whitney LOVED it.  Two sea lions in particular were fighting and pushing each other into the water which made everyone laugh.  We then walked around a bit and got on our boat tour of the bay.  The tour went under the Golden Gate Bridge, around Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge before heading back.  It was neat to hear all the history in simple terms because Whitney really took away a lot of information.  Beautiful!!

After that we went straight for the Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory.  They were handing out samples that were so fresh it was unbelievable.  We got a hot fudge sundae and a chocolate cone to sample for brunch haha!  To say it was delicious would be downplaying it, the girls were in heaven and it really put a little pep in their step for the last leg of our walking tour.

We ended our morning in the city with a lunch at Boudin Bakery.  They made sourdough bread that you can smell a mile away!  The sandwiches were awesome and the bread was so fresh!

It was short trip but we packed a lot into the time that we had and enjoyed ourselves!
