Kelley and Mike's Wedding!!!!

Tuesday afternoon started off the wedding week!  Kelley and Mike rented out a house for us and showed off Lake Tahoe. We went to the beach and lake to play and check out the view, ate dinners on our large deck, took a hike and found some enormous pine cones.  We went to Martis Camp, where Mike's brother and sister in law have a house, swam at their pool and had our rehearsal at the ski lodge.  This was place was insanely nice and the ladies lounge where we got ready for the rehearsal and wedding was breathtaking.  We were pampered for sure.

Kelley and Mike chose the ski lodge for the wedding destination.  No snow since it was so hot with the heat wave but the mountains and surrounding tress were beautiful.  Abby and Millie (5 and 2) are Mike's (and now Kelley's) nieces.  The four girls got along SO well.  It was great for them to have playmates while we were there.  

For the wedding the four flower girls got to put on make up, wear cute white dresses and toss flowers out of special M&K buckets.  They were on their best behavior and all of them made it down the aisle.  The girls also barely touched their dinners as they were too busy playing and dancing around.

As for the ceremony itself,  Bret was the officiant and did a great job.  It is always so nice when the person performing the ceremony knows the couple and is able to speak freely from the heart.  Kelley and  Mike planned the perfect evening with pictures during sunset, a lovely dinner outside and granny's favorite dessert, strawberry shortcake!

We left this week with great memories and are so thankful that Kelley and Mike shared this special time with us, such a blessing!

South Haven, Michigan

We love Michigan and had such an amazing time on our family trip to South Haven this year.  The 4.5 hour drive was easy with older kiddos and totally worth it for the memories we made this year! An old high school in downtown South Haven was renovated into lofts recently and we decided to check it out.  It was such a cute place with pieces of the high school here and there for memory sake.  They had old school desks as the sinks in the bathrooms and lockers turned on their side used as planters throughout the building.  The lofts were very nice and spacious and had an indoor pool and movie theater. We had some great food this time around and even met up with some friends that were staying nearby.  The girls loved being on floats in the water, swimming in the pool and checking out downtown.  I would say the highlight of the trip was the dune ride we took on a rainy morning.  It was so much fun and had such amazing views!! Broken Bone

During quarantine Ryan and I were always saying to the girls, "be careful and don't break anything, we dont want to have to go to the ER during this crazy time...." Whit of course breaks her wrist smack dab in the middle of it all!!!  Myself, Ryan and both girls have never broken a bone -- why does it happen when we literally aren't supposed to and don't want to leave the house!?!? Whitney was riding her scooter on April 22 and the wheel got caught in a crack on a neighbors driveway, down she went catching herself with her left wrist.  She immediately screamed out, "I BROKE MY ARM!!!"  I knew it was a bad fall but everything looked okay, just a little blood and I thought this is like her other falls where she is pretty dramatic.  Fast forward and hour and she is feeling sick to her stomach and still in a whole lot of pain.  We luckily have several neighbors in the orhto field that took a look at her arm; she put it in an ice bath and they suggested t...

Fantasy Football

Football season has arrived which means all the men in our family start using "uh huh" and "mmmm hmmm" as their main vocabulary.  This is especially true on draft day when all of them gather at the Sims house for good food and lots and lots of football talk!  The girls make sure they are "seen and not heard" on this day and usually congregate far away from the madness that ensues inside.  Picture this: 15 or so guys huddled over pages and pages of spreadsheets listing every football player worth anything in the NFL, scrambling to make just the right pick, only to receive 'smack' talk from all the other guys about how that wasn't the pick they would have made.  Bret doesn't mess around and has a larger than life poster to list all the draft picks with color coordinated stickers.....Im telling you if you haven't experienced this you won't believe your eyes!!  Once the draft if over (after about two hours of the above craziness) they a...
