Broken Bone

During quarantine Ryan and I were always saying to the girls, "be careful and don't break anything, we dont want to have to go to the ER during this crazy time...."

Whit of course breaks her wrist smack dab in the middle of it all!!!  Myself, Ryan and both girls have never broken a bone -- why does it happen when we literally aren't supposed to and don't want to leave the house!?!?

Whitney was riding her scooter on April 22 and the wheel got caught in a crack on a neighbors driveway, down she went catching herself with her left wrist.  She immediately screamed out, "I BROKE MY ARM!!!"  I knew it was a bad fall but everything looked okay, just a little blood and I thought this is like her other falls where she is pretty dramatic.  Fast forward and hour and she is feeling sick to her stomach and still in a whole lot of pain.  We luckily have several neighbors in the orhto field that took a look at her arm; she put it in an ice bath and they suggested that we go see someone in the morning for xrays.

It was a long night with very little sleep due to so much pain but we thankfully got into the pediatrician for xrays rather than having to go all the way down to childrens and come in contact with so many people!!  They were so efficient and quick that we were in and out in less than hour and saw a total of four people the whole time we were there!!

Her wrist was confirmed broken and she left with a splint.  My mom just so happened to be at Beacon Orthopedics and they were able to squeeze her in the very next day.  Again, we were spared the trip down the childrens to get her arm set into a cast.  Beacon was an even better oiled machine when it came to getting in and out and we again saw three total people while we were there.

She had a lot of well wishers and treats sent her way which helped pass the first few days that were filled with pain!

The pain eventually went away and she enjoyed doing a lot of drive bys to get signatures from friends and family.  She will be the first to tell you that wishing for a cast is not something she would recommend to anyone.  We are all glad its off and that she is swearing off of her scooter for good!!!
