Update

As I approach the end of my pregnancy I feel the need to update our blog on Whit and her accomplishments, funny moments and favorites at this time.  Who knows how often I will blog once Keeba arrives :)

As many of you know Whitney has quite the personality.  She is super funny and quick with her words.  She is really into learning new words and using them correctly in sentences throughout her day.  Its quite astonishing sometimes that a three year old figures out to use "natural disaster" or "barbarian" in everyday language.  One of her new things is to talk about what words mean and she will say to someone, "when I say I am digging this yogurt, it means that I like it."  My little teacher helping people understand already:)

Some of the things she says/does right now are just hilarious and I thought we should get them down so we don't forget.

-Whitney is learning about strangers and is very curious as to why some people are strangers and others are not.  We try to teach her that she can talk to people she doesn't know when mommy and daddy are around but if she is alone she shouldn't talk with strangers....
Hard concept right?
Well she will be at a playground and another parent will comment or say something and she will just stand there, only to later inform me that she knew she shouldn't answer because that person wasn't someone she knew and I wasn't standing very close to her at the time!!
There was an instance awhile back when an older man was in the elevator with us and he pulled out an handful of unwrapped M&M's offering some to Whitney.  I was completely taken aback that someone would offer candy to a little child...completely unwrapped in an elevator of all places....  So I lied haha!!  I said, "oh no she cannot have those she is allergic!"  To which Whitney immediately said, "Oh no I am not I had those yesterday remember mom!!!" Awkward!!!
But that was a huge deal talking about how we don't know where that candy has been or that we didn't know that man......  Only then to be followed a few weeks later by a parade where lots of strangers throw candy at your feet and you gladly accept it!  Whew life lessons are hard to teach sometimes haha!!

-She is also very into her body and why things are private as well as who can see her private parts!  She went the doctor for one of my weekly check ups and was so upset that I would allow the dr to see my private parts or even the fact that boys in our neighborhood cut the grass and shouldn't show us their chests while doing it!  One day she came up to me and said, "Mom, I wish I had a crack like you."  To which I was like what????????  Then she proceeded to point to my chest and say she wanted a crack up there like me too...hahha!

-Whitney is also very interested in what will happen to her when she grows up.  She is constantly asking about heaven or wondering what job she will have when she can work.  Some of the jobs she wants to have are: working as a snake catcher in the wild, a waitress at toots (bc she can eat hot dogs and ice cream for free), babysitter, cashier at target (bc she can have all the stickers she wants), and a police woman (so she can blow her whistle at people that are not following the rules).  And its not just one of those jobs, she actually has conversations with us about what part of her day will be spent doing a certain job!  Ambitious!

Heaven is another big topic for her, she is getting better but in the past was literally terrified about what heaven would be like and what would happen to her and her toys when she went there.  Every day she says something like, "is it time for heaven yet or can I play with my new toys?"  Or "can I please leave this toy in this exact spot until I have to go to heaven?".  At one point she was in tears daily wondering when she would have to go and if I would be there with her.....  We are thankfully away from the scared stage because it was breaking my heart to see her so worried about it.  Its a hard thing to tell a three year old about....not something she can easily grasp.

-Whit goes to bed around 8 or 830 but some nights this summer have been pushing closer to 9 and because of that, one night she was able to see lightening bugs for the very first time.  Funny to think that its just normal for me to see them out in our yard but she stood by the window and looked like she was seeing the most spectacular view in the world.  I was facing the other way and she actually said, "Mommy there is lightening in our yard, the storm is getting closer...."  I of course was like hmmm ok??  Then she said, "Look at all those yellow lights!!"
It was priceless.  So I of course ran outside with her so she could see exactly what those lights were!  While catching and examining some of them she says to me, "Mom, I wish God made my bucky light up like that!!"

-Speaking of lightening, Whit loves thunderstorms.  I was determined to have my children grow up not being afraid of storms.  Its a weird thing to experience I am sure for a kid, a weird loud noise coming from really dark clouds but some of my favorite past times as a kid were playing outside as a storm was coming in.  My  mom would take us out and we would do cartwheels and count the time between the lightening strikes and thunder and just have a blast!
So Whit and I do that from our porch some days.  The storms roll right on past us some times haha we have had lots of thunder but very few BIG storms this year.  Anyway, a few nights last week we did indeed get some storms and they just happened to be when Whitney was going to bed.  Instead of being afraid of the loud thunder, she would hear it and then yell/ask us through the monitor, "Are you guys ok down there???"
We just thought it was so funny because it literally was thundering every minute..maybe even more so she asked us that question about a million times during those nights.....:)  We would go into check on her and she would tell us that she was just making sure we were okay and not scared!!
Also for those of you that know my mom went to Princeton HS and part of their fight song says, thunder...thunderation we're the viking delegation......  And of course my mom sings that to all of us, Whitney included:), and every time she hears thunder she breaks out in song....!!  (makes my mamaw proud I bet!)

-Swim Lesson in the winter did not go over well for many reason but mainly because she was in a class with 8 other kids of varying levels and the teacher literally helped/taught her for a total of 8 mins a class.  Really worthless if you ask me, especially for how much you have to pay for that!!  So I found a very nice lady that teaches private lessons at our neighborhood pool and signed Whitney up for this summer.  She is awesome, Ms. Jane, and Whit is really thriving!  She LOVES the water now and is so very confident.  She doesn't enjoy putting her face under but we are working on it.  Ms. Jane has her diving for pennies and each one she gets while putting her mouth and nose under, she gets to take home and keep!  This is great incentive.  It actually got Whitney to try on goggles for the first time and now she loves them!  She really didn't care for them before but we cannot get her out of the bathtub anymore because she is practicing so hard for her teacher!

-Because of the penny diving at her lessons, she is into coins right now.  She loves looking at all of the different ones, noticing who is on the front and what is on the back.  So of course we started to learn a little about them and she became very intrigued by Abraham Lincoln!   You can ask her which coin has Abraham Lincoln on it and she will very proudly tell you.   One day during swim lessons she retrieved a penny and said, "Ms. Jane, lets take a break from lessons for a minute so I can tell you about a very special man named Abraham Lincoln!!"

-Whit loves being outside.  She has her new swing set to play on, a new big girl bike from Emma and Caroline, and her baseball bat and tee.  She really gets going on her new bike...like we have to run to keep up with her!!  And will hit a home run (over the fence) every time she plays!!  She is also into playing imaginary games outside too.  This is partly because I am so exhausted after dinner and really just want to sit down with my feet up, so we play "witch's stew".  Totally made up but she has a bucket with water and I help her figure out what needs to go into her stew.  (grass, leaves, weeds, sand, mulch....you name it we use it!) Hey, whatever you have to do right!?!?

-Apparently I was a social butterfly when I was younger and would talk any adults ear off that would listen!  I have even been told that some older people just thought I was precious and would give me a dollar for no reason at all:)  Welllll Whit has followed in my foot steps.  It doesn't matter who it is or what we are doing she will converse with anyone that looks at her.  It could be as simple as saying, good morning or hello to people walking by, or actually filling them in on important information she thinks they need to know!  There is this one lady at the pool that we see a lot and she just talks her ear off; this time she proceeded to tell her that Whitney thinks the Dr. made a mistake and that Keeba is going to be a boy.  She then told this lady, "I sure hope he likes purple because Jenny painted the room purple and we only have girl clothes/toys...."  :))

-And last Whitney is like a sponge and we love it.  She will read a book with you any time of day and ask so many questions it is unreal.  She will literally sit for an hour reading books over and over again.  She loves it.  She loves making "collections" of book that are about the same topics and reading them all together.  Or reading book and then hunting around the house looking for items that have to do with that topic.  Its like my classroom :) ha!  She loves words too.  As I mentioned before she is so into learning new words but also love to figure out how things are spelled.  She will say a word, say it over and over again slowly to hear the sounds and literally tell me beginning, middle and ending sounds of these words.  I mean come on, she is three!!!  Makes her momma proud.
I watch her on the monitor too when she is reading at night.  She will know a book by heart and say the words super slow as she is tracing her finger under the words in the book.  It isn't the correct word she is underlining but she is trying and that's what makes me proud.
Whitney also loves playing with my magnetic letters on a cookie sheet.  She will say lets spell cat.  So I will place the letters she needs for cat on the tray all mixed up and we will say the word together as she determines the order in which the letters go!  LOVE IT:)
ha!!!

Well that was a novel but I really didn't want to miss out on all the stuff that she is doing right now. Because lets be honest, things aren't going to be calm for a little bit and I just know that coming down here to blog isn't going to be high on my list!!

I do feel a little guilty that I blogged/wrote about my pregnancy every week with Whitney and haven't done it at all with this one. (second child syndrome right?)  But I have been feeling really good.  After the initial sickness, I have had so much energy and have felt great!  By month 7 with Whitney I was on partial bed rest and was so swollen it was ridiculous.  I was eventually induced four days early with her because my blood pressure was so high!  This time, in summer mind you, I barely swollen and have normal blood pressure.  I am sore and uncomfortable, don't get me wrong but I haven't really had to slow down at all; and that's a good thing because having a three year old doesn't bode well for rest!

We still dont have a name and we are one week away from our due date.  Not sure what to think about that haha!!  We knew Whit's name from 20 weeks on and didnt even falter.....I guess we will just have to see her!

We are all so very excited to meet Keeba.  It is weird to sit here this weekend and this that by next weekend we will have a baby in our house.  (if I don't go into labor on my own this weekend, they are setting up an induction date for later this week :)  I think I will go as long as it takes to get the induction.  I feel some contractions and am 3 cm dilated but nothing is happening!!  Even though she is killing me when she moves around because there is NO room left she must just love it in there!!

I will leave you with some pictures of our weekly adventures and update soon enough with baby girl Skeldon news!!!
