Meredith is 5!

Meredith Lee is Five!!!!  

We had a wonderful day celebrating her with friends and family.  The day started with a request of breakfast in bed and then lunch with the Becks at her favorite place, Skips Bagel and Deli!!!  We then had a family party at our house for her that we made very low key because the very next morning, we were heading to Florida for the week!!

She felt very special and LOVED her gifts.  She was very sad to have to leave them right after opening them haha but it was just that more exciting to come home!  Her favorite gifts were her Amazon kindle fire, guitar, big girl make up, puppet theater and puppets!!

Meredith has really grown this past year!  I never thought she would have loved school but she really embraced it!!  She is looking forward to going to Pre-K next year and wearing a uniform just like her sister.  She loves to read books, writing her name and many other words she knows how to spell.  She isn't into reading and writing as much as her sister but she sure does love to pretend play; and brush her american girl doll hair.  She specifically bought one doll that has long hair, down to her feet and brushes it all day long.

Meredith is also getting into singing.  She loves to go in her room with her microphone and belt out songs that only she can understand!  She has even started learning piano with Ryan and can play almost all of the beginning songs in the learning book that Whit used.

Swimming was something she never felt comfortable with until this summer.  She just decided to go in the pool and go under, from there she just took off.  She can now jump in the deep end and swim right to the side.  I still watch her like a hawk but she is really quite good at swimming now!!  Meredith is also a big time cuddle bug.  She would sit on my lap and snuggle me all day if I let her.

Meredith also has a funny way of talking that makes all of us laugh.  She kind of growls/grunts words and gets right in your face to say them haha.  Ryan can't be around it without cracking up!!  She is a funny kid with a big heart and love for her family.

Can't wait to see what this next year bring for her :)

South Haven, Michigan

We love Michigan and had such an amazing time on our family trip to South Haven this year.  The 4.5 hour drive was easy with older kiddos and totally worth it for the memories we made this year! An old high school in downtown South Haven was renovated into lofts recently and we decided to check it out.  It was such a cute place with pieces of the high school here and there for memory sake.  They had old school desks as the sinks in the bathrooms and lockers turned on their side used as planters throughout the building.  The lofts were very nice and spacious and had an indoor pool and movie theater. We had some great food this time around and even met up with some friends that were staying nearby.  The girls loved being on floats in the water, swimming in the pool and checking out downtown.  I would say the highlight of the trip was the dune ride we took on a rainy morning.  It was so much fun and had such amazing views!! Broken Bone

During quarantine Ryan and I were always saying to the girls, "be careful and don't break anything, we dont want to have to go to the ER during this crazy time...." Whit of course breaks her wrist smack dab in the middle of it all!!!  Myself, Ryan and both girls have never broken a bone -- why does it happen when we literally aren't supposed to and don't want to leave the house!?!? Whitney was riding her scooter on April 22 and the wheel got caught in a crack on a neighbors driveway, down she went catching herself with her left wrist.  She immediately screamed out, "I BROKE MY ARM!!!"  I knew it was a bad fall but everything looked okay, just a little blood and I thought this is like her other falls where she is pretty dramatic.  Fast forward and hour and she is feeling sick to her stomach and still in a whole lot of pain.  We luckily have several neighbors in the orhto field that took a look at her arm; she put it in an ice bath and they suggested t...

Fantasy Football

Football season has arrived which means all the men in our family start using "uh huh" and "mmmm hmmm" as their main vocabulary.  This is especially true on draft day when all of them gather at the Sims house for good food and lots and lots of football talk!  The girls make sure they are "seen and not heard" on this day and usually congregate far away from the madness that ensues inside.  Picture this: 15 or so guys huddled over pages and pages of spreadsheets listing every football player worth anything in the NFL, scrambling to make just the right pick, only to receive 'smack' talk from all the other guys about how that wasn't the pick they would have made.  Bret doesn't mess around and has a larger than life poster to list all the draft picks with color coordinated stickers.....Im telling you if you haven't experienced this you won't believe your eyes!!  Once the draft if over (after about two hours of the above craziness) they a...
