Exciting Times

We had several firsts this month in the Skeldon Household:

We have been working so hard to help Whitney settle into school and help her with her worries.  It has been a long road but by the end of October, we finally had a full week of NO TEARS before school!!!  Its a work in progress because after the long weekend she had some trouble again but we have seen her grow and learn to love school so much since the beginning of the year.  Sweet girl just hold so much inside and I guess I never realized how much I was there to help with everyday with her fears.  She is being so brave and working through things on her own at school and like I said, has really made some great strides!

Meredith got her first hair cut!!  I didnt want to cut off her little tail in the back that has been growing since birth but it was time.  She loved her hair cut and looks so cute now that her hair is all one length!!

Miss Whitney lost her very first tooth!!!  She was wiggling that thing for weeks and one Friday night she was eating a runt and all of the sudden she felt another "piece of candy" in her mouth.  Luckily she didnt swallow and was able to put her precious first tooth under her pillow that evening.  She looks so different with a hole in her smile but I better get used to it as there are several loose ones!

Whit also had success with riding her bike without training wheels!!  She was really worried about riding without us holding on, so Ryan bought her a balance bike to practice.   That thing worked wonders, she rode it constantly for three weeks and then decided it was time to try her other bike out again.  First try she was racing down the driveway!!  She has since mastered getting it started on her own and feel so grown up!!!

South Haven, Michigan

We love Michigan and had such an amazing time on our family trip to South Haven this year.  The 4.5 hour drive was easy with older kiddos and totally worth it for the memories we made this year! An old high school in downtown South Haven was renovated into lofts recently and we decided to check it out.  It was such a cute place with pieces of the high school here and there for memory sake.  They had old school desks as the sinks in the bathrooms and lockers turned on their side used as planters throughout the building.  The lofts were very nice and spacious and had an indoor pool and movie theater. We had some great food this time around and even met up with some friends that were staying nearby.  The girls loved being on floats in the water, swimming in the pool and checking out downtown.  I would say the highlight of the trip was the dune ride we took on a rainy morning.  It was so much fun and had such amazing views!! Broken Bone

During quarantine Ryan and I were always saying to the girls, "be careful and don't break anything, we dont want to have to go to the ER during this crazy time...." Whit of course breaks her wrist smack dab in the middle of it all!!!  Myself, Ryan and both girls have never broken a bone -- why does it happen when we literally aren't supposed to and don't want to leave the house!?!? Whitney was riding her scooter on April 22 and the wheel got caught in a crack on a neighbors driveway, down she went catching herself with her left wrist.  She immediately screamed out, "I BROKE MY ARM!!!"  I knew it was a bad fall but everything looked okay, just a little blood and I thought this is like her other falls where she is pretty dramatic.  Fast forward and hour and she is feeling sick to her stomach and still in a whole lot of pain.  We luckily have several neighbors in the orhto field that took a look at her arm; she put it in an ice bath and they suggested t...

Fantasy Football

Football season has arrived which means all the men in our family start using "uh huh" and "mmmm hmmm" as their main vocabulary.  This is especially true on draft day when all of them gather at the Sims house for good food and lots and lots of football talk!  The girls make sure they are "seen and not heard" on this day and usually congregate far away from the madness that ensues inside.  Picture this: 15 or so guys huddled over pages and pages of spreadsheets listing every football player worth anything in the NFL, scrambling to make just the right pick, only to receive 'smack' talk from all the other guys about how that wasn't the pick they would have made.  Bret doesn't mess around and has a larger than life poster to list all the draft picks with color coordinated stickers.....Im telling you if you haven't experienced this you won't believe your eyes!!  Once the draft if over (after about two hours of the above craziness) they a...
