Whit is 5!!!!

Five??  That is not possible right?  Time sure does fly and we do in fact have a wonderful five year old daughter!!  Whitney is such a caring, happy and smart young lady.  She loves her sister with all of her heart and would do anything for her, even though little Meredith often hits or pinches her older sister!  Her first instinct is to help others, whether that be grabbing something someone needs or catering to someone who is hurt or not feeling well.  I didn't meet too many kindergartners in my years that felt for others as much as she does; it is a gift and I am sure it will continue to shine through as she grows.

Whit loves to write.  You can often find her with her special notebooks or diaries writing special notes or stories all by herself.  She is writing beginning middle and ending sounds and even complete sentences.  I am amazed at how quickly she catches on to things.  We are working on spaces and periods currently.  She knows about 20 read and write words consistently and is starting to gain more confidence in reading.  She HATES to make mistakes so is very hesitant to read but as I said, she is starting to initiate it on her own and I think is realizing it is easier than she thought it was!  She wrote the thank you notes for her friends and cousins all by herself this year!  Whitney is also into doing math problems.  She rolls the dice and uses those numbers rolled to do addition problems....warms my teacher heart!

Poor Whit hasn't been feeling very well lately.  She started feeling sick before Halloween which initiated her surgery to remove her adenoids.  She really has not been healthy since then, two sinus infections, a cold, daily headaches and more.  Whitney has also been through many tests that haven't been pleasant but as always was a trooper.  Thankfully all blood tests came back normal and the other tests showed no sinus troubles.  Now we move onto allergies to try to help relieve some of her symptoms.  Poor girlie needs to feel better soon!

Three days a week she goes to Lakeview Preschool and loves it.  I cannot believe it but we are going to the St. Columban kindergarten meeting this week.  I have anxiety over this haha, how can she be ready to start school??? She is taking a Spanish class for six weeks and also started piano lessons this month.  She is very excited about piano and practices so much!  We look forward to listening to her play and watching her learn and gain confidence!
