Meredith is 18 months old!

Not only is Whitney 5, but Meredith is a year and a half!!!!  Time is just flying by, I now understand why my grandparents used to say they needed to find a rock to put on our heads to stop us from getting any bigger :)

Mere's personality is growing more every day.  She is a silly girl that loves to run throughout the house and make us all laugh.  She is stubborn, decisive and very into routines.  Meredith wants to be anywhere Whitney is and tries to be just like her.  She does however have a mean streak and hits, pinches, or pulls her hair quite frequently.  She likes to feed herself and is now sitting in a booster seat at the table which makes her feel so big!  She will eat almost anything you give her and would prefer to eat all day long if you let her.  Fruit is her favorite, followed by waffles and yogurt.

This girl never forgets anything.  She will say someone's name and then proceed to tell you what that person does or says, some even weeks ago!!!  For instance, she will say "Matthew" and then pull on the sleeve of her shirt because he did that to her once at a restaurant.  She will say, "mike" and laugh bc she thinks he laughs a lot:)

Her vocabulary is really growing too.  She asks for things she wants/needs and has even started putting two words together; an example is when she says, "dada home (then a bunch of gibberish) hug"  Some of the words she is currently saying are:

Meredith thankfully sleeps through the night and has for a few months, what a difference it makes when everyone sleeps.....whew!!!  She is a pretty good at napping too!  She still takes the occasional morning nap and when she doesnt its still a battle to get to lunch.  Hopefully that will change soon because she is too old for that morning nap!

She loves playing with babies and singing rock-a-bye to them, walking them in the stroller or feeding them in the highchair.  Mere enjoys dress up and likes to empty any box or container she sees, haha, unfortunately she doesn't always like to fill it back up!

At her 18 month check up she did great.  No tears except when she got her flu booster shot.  She weighs 25 lbs and is 33.5 inches long (75% for weight and 90% for height).  Everything else is great and we dont go back until her two year check up this summer!!

South Haven, Michigan

We love Michigan and had such an amazing time on our family trip to South Haven this year.  The 4.5 hour drive was easy with older kiddos and totally worth it for the memories we made this year! An old high school in downtown South Haven was renovated into lofts recently and we decided to check it out.  It was such a cute place with pieces of the high school here and there for memory sake.  They had old school desks as the sinks in the bathrooms and lockers turned on their side used as planters throughout the building.  The lofts were very nice and spacious and had an indoor pool and movie theater. We had some great food this time around and even met up with some friends that were staying nearby.  The girls loved being on floats in the water, swimming in the pool and checking out downtown.  I would say the highlight of the trip was the dune ride we took on a rainy morning.  It was so much fun and had such amazing views!! Broken Bone

During quarantine Ryan and I were always saying to the girls, "be careful and don't break anything, we dont want to have to go to the ER during this crazy time...." Whit of course breaks her wrist smack dab in the middle of it all!!!  Myself, Ryan and both girls have never broken a bone -- why does it happen when we literally aren't supposed to and don't want to leave the house!?!? Whitney was riding her scooter on April 22 and the wheel got caught in a crack on a neighbors driveway, down she went catching herself with her left wrist.  She immediately screamed out, "I BROKE MY ARM!!!"  I knew it was a bad fall but everything looked okay, just a little blood and I thought this is like her other falls where she is pretty dramatic.  Fast forward and hour and she is feeling sick to her stomach and still in a whole lot of pain.  We luckily have several neighbors in the orhto field that took a look at her arm; she put it in an ice bath and they suggested t...

Fantasy Football

Football season has arrived which means all the men in our family start using "uh huh" and "mmmm hmmm" as their main vocabulary.  This is especially true on draft day when all of them gather at the Sims house for good food and lots and lots of football talk!  The girls make sure they are "seen and not heard" on this day and usually congregate far away from the madness that ensues inside.  Picture this: 15 or so guys huddled over pages and pages of spreadsheets listing every football player worth anything in the NFL, scrambling to make just the right pick, only to receive 'smack' talk from all the other guys about how that wasn't the pick they would have made.  Bret doesn't mess around and has a larger than life poster to list all the draft picks with color coordinated stickers.....Im telling you if you haven't experienced this you won't believe your eyes!!  Once the draft if over (after about two hours of the above craziness) they a...
