Mother's Day

My Mother's Day started off with a special event at Whitney's school.  I felt so loved and it was great getting to spend time with her one on one.  They sang songs, presented us with gifts and then we got to enjoy some treats and punch with all the other guests.  The gift was a candle holder and candle made by Whit.  It was a great way to start the weekend:)

We then had everyone over to our house for the Skeldon Family Mother's Day celebration.  It was great to have nice weather so all the kids could play outside with each other.  I love that the girls have cousins to play with and that they all actually get along.  I didn't have many cousins that were close so seeing them love on each other and play together so well it awesome!  Sunday afternoon we spent with the Sims' Family and again, played outside while enjoying the nice weather.

The whole weekend was awesome but one particular moment sticks out in my mind and I know I will remember it forever.  It has been a long time since my granny has carried on a conversation and actually laughed with us due to her Alzheimers disease.  However, while everyone played soccer out in the yard, my mom and I sat with my Grandparents and had the most wonderful conversation.  We were goofing around, laughing and smiling like it used to be.  My grandma even told my gramps he was the love of her life, which literally melted my heart.  I had mixed emotions that night as I sat thinking about that exchange because I know it won't happen many more times as she continues to lose her memories even more, but it was the most wonderful gift I could have gotten for Mother's Day...... We all miss that lady so much and it meant the world to me to get a glimpse of her even if it was for a few brief minutes.
