Meredith Update
Oh Meredith!
Poor little thing is just so fussy. We aren't sure if its colic, reflux, lack of sleep or just her personality but whew, we are exhausted! Whit was a fussy baby but nothing compared to this!
From about 4 months on (almost 6 months now) she has been waking at night a lot. I mean some nights it is upwards of 20-30 times. Most nights it is around 10...which is A LOT. It is not good sleep for anyone involved. The only she wants/needs is her paci! Ugh! She falls asleep on her own and has no problem other then when her paci falls out, she wakes up and screams for it. As soon as you pop it back in, she is back to sleep and happy. So hard because she isn't quite old enough to get the paci back in her mouth by herself which makes for some long nights!!
We took her to the doctor a two weeks ago and they doubled her reflux medicine! The doctor we saw said that what she was taking wasn't even enough to help an infant with reflux.....let alone an 18 lb baby! Yes, 18 pounds!! She is seriously so big and I love it! She is wearing 9 month clothes now at barely 6 months old! No lack of eating there for her! The medicine adjustment seems to have helped her as she isn't screaming and fighting feeding times anymore. Around 6-8 months is when Whitney's reflux completely went away so I am hoping for the same with Mere!
She is also a major home body. Whitney and I are not used to staying home so much....we like to go go go but Mere does not!!! She will cry and fuss the entire day if we are gone but once we are home she is a happy camper. Christmas time was really hard because she doesn't nap well unless she is in her room and we were gone a lot! She was super fussy and really tired every day....the day we went back to our normal at home schedule, she was as happy as can be though!
You can tell that she is starting to recognize that Mommy or Daddy aren't holding her and really puts on the pout face or lets out some crocodile tears to protest! But the person she really wants is Whitney. This little girl will crane her neck just to catch a glimpse of her sister. I try my hardest to get her to giggle and all Whitney has to do is smile and she gets a big old belly laugh!!!
Meredith is so alert, very into grabbing things and mostly happy -- when she sleeps! She is going to be a mover though. She is already leaning so far forward just to reach something Whitney is using. In fact, we had our first sister fight the other day over a train and I know it won't be our last! Whitney was using her train and as it went round and round the track it caught Mere's attention. Meredith was watching nicely for a little bit but then must have timed it just right because she swooped in right when the train went past and crushed it to pieces!!!!! I am not sure who was more shocked Meredith, that she was able to actually do it or Whitney that her train was ruined. Major tears and a tantrum ensued but a few minutes later all was fine and happy again:) Such is life right?
Her six month check up is next week so I will update more about her growth then:)
