Christmas with the Sims Family

We spent Christmas morning at our house opening presents and enjoying all of our new toys.  Crazy how exciting Christmas is once you have kids.  I think I woke up several times in anticipation of Whitney waking up and running down the steps:).  Santa brought her the infamous doc mobile that I searched high and low for but the gift she was most thrilled about was her erasers!  haha!!  She asked Santa to bring her Halloween erasers but those could not be found, so she ended up getting a variety pack of 500 mini erasers.  Funny how that got the most attention Christmas morning.....erasers....ha!

After our family time in the morning we made the short drive (yay for living so close now) to Mamaw and Papaw's house.  Aunt Kelley, Uncle Caleb, Aunt Meg, Mamaw and Papaw were anxiously awaiting our arrival and were so excited to see the girls!  Everyone took turns trying to pacify little Mere who was super tired and just wanted to be home -- doesn't she know its the holidays and that we are on the go a lot?? :).  She seemed to love the dogs and the Christmas tree this time around!

We were all spoiled and loved having time to just relax and enjoy each others company.

South Haven, Michigan

We love Michigan and had such an amazing time on our family trip to South Haven this year.  The 4.5 hour drive was easy with older kiddos and totally worth it for the memories we made this year! An old high school in downtown South Haven was renovated into lofts recently and we decided to check it out.  It was such a cute place with pieces of the high school here and there for memory sake.  They had old school desks as the sinks in the bathrooms and lockers turned on their side used as planters throughout the building.  The lofts were very nice and spacious and had an indoor pool and movie theater. We had some great food this time around and even met up with some friends that were staying nearby.  The girls loved being on floats in the water, swimming in the pool and checking out downtown.  I would say the highlight of the trip was the dune ride we took on a rainy morning.  It was so much fun and had such amazing views!! Broken Bone

During quarantine Ryan and I were always saying to the girls, "be careful and don't break anything, we dont want to have to go to the ER during this crazy time...." Whit of course breaks her wrist smack dab in the middle of it all!!!  Myself, Ryan and both girls have never broken a bone -- why does it happen when we literally aren't supposed to and don't want to leave the house!?!? Whitney was riding her scooter on April 22 and the wheel got caught in a crack on a neighbors driveway, down she went catching herself with her left wrist.  She immediately screamed out, "I BROKE MY ARM!!!"  I knew it was a bad fall but everything looked okay, just a little blood and I thought this is like her other falls where she is pretty dramatic.  Fast forward and hour and she is feeling sick to her stomach and still in a whole lot of pain.  We luckily have several neighbors in the orhto field that took a look at her arm; she put it in an ice bath and they suggested t...

Fantasy Football

Football season has arrived which means all the men in our family start using "uh huh" and "mmmm hmmm" as their main vocabulary.  This is especially true on draft day when all of them gather at the Sims house for good food and lots and lots of football talk!  The girls make sure they are "seen and not heard" on this day and usually congregate far away from the madness that ensues inside.  Picture this: 15 or so guys huddled over pages and pages of spreadsheets listing every football player worth anything in the NFL, scrambling to make just the right pick, only to receive 'smack' talk from all the other guys about how that wasn't the pick they would have made.  Bret doesn't mess around and has a larger than life poster to list all the draft picks with color coordinated stickers.....Im telling you if you haven't experienced this you won't believe your eyes!!  Once the draft if over (after about two hours of the above craziness) they a...
