Learning

As I mentioned in a post before, Whitney isn't fond of working with me at home.  I try to be sneaky but she still refuses.  I'm hoping it is just a stage but I thought I would share an update on what Whitney is doing/knows at 2 and a half.

Depending on the day she knows all of her letters and can write some of them too.  She can write the letters: M, W, t, o, x, H, i, L

Whitney is even learning the sounds of letters and knows numbers 1-5 consistently...6-10 are a little sketchy (I'd say we will work on them but that might not happen...haha)

You are probably thinking, how could sweet little Whitney refuse such fun activities....my thoughts exactly.  But she is certainly strong willed and if the activity isn't something she thought of or strictly pretending, then you can almost always forget about it.  Even coloring, she used to love coloring...now you show her a crayon and she throws it!!

Please let it be a phase:)

I got her to trace her name a few times and she is getting better.  She can build her name with and without a model of her name in front of her and can still spell (out loud): Whitney, Skeldon, Xavier, Mommy, and Daddy.

Whit is learning new words daily and uses them correctly.  For example she learned the words parents. Funny that she was like what does parents mean....you are mom and dad.  Then the next day, after we explained what it meant, she turns to us while she is in the other room and says, "Parents I would like you to come in here...." haha!

I get her to "watch me work" on things and for something fun we wrote a letter to her favorite character, Rapunzel.  We sent the letter in the mail (another thing I saw on pinterest) and waited for a letter in return.  It took so long, she never stopped asking about it haha, but it was about six weeks later and she FINALLY something in return.

She received a post card with all the Disney princess on it and under each princess is their signature.  She was over the moon and has it hanging on the dish washer for all to see!
