Little Miss Personality
We've been trying to keep busy during these long winter days which is sometimes a challenge, especially when she hasn't slept well the night before and it cranky! Earlier in the winter we could at least get out and walk around the block but it has just been way too cold recently and we are sure missing outside play time!!
It has helped a little that Whitney is starting to enjoy playing on her own. She will allow me :) to cook dinner most nights as she plays with her guys and their houses/cars. It is really great to see her imagination coming to life and then to hear what I must say all day long come out of her mouth haha!
She loves to sing and cheer and is constantly asking to sing songs. She currently loves the cheer from the movie Bring It On, (Brr, its cold in here. There must be some torros in the atmosphere.....) Whit walks around the house yelling this cheer while stomping her feet and clapping her hands. LOVE IT! She also sings Zac Brown Band songs and her favorite is Chicken Fried! She has such a good memory and can recall songs she sang briefly with someone and knows a lot of the words!!
Here is her cheering:

Her favorite books right now are, Pete the Cat and Move Over Rover. I was shocked but she actually retold the stories with amazing vocabulary. She even remembered some exact lines from the book. (some of my old students could do this!!!!)
Here she is retelling Pete the cat:

Whitney is continuing to amaze me with her spelling. She can consistently spell: mommy, daddy, xavier, whitney and skeldon. What surprises me the most though is that she can see an M and say, "is that for mommy?" or "look mommy an X for xavier." which is crazy that she is understanding letters at this point. She can write the letter W and can sometimes make an S. She can make a circle and is realllllly concentrating on coloring specific items. For example she will get very serious and try very hard to color in the eyes of a certain animal in a coloring book. She gets pretty close too!
Another HUGE milestone last week was that Whitney spent the night at my moms house for the first time!! She did great!!! I was very nervous but knew that she was obviously in good hands and that we needed to get this over with haha:) My mom said she barely asked for me and only woke up once during the night. She loved the new tradition they started with having donuts in the morning. I told my mom that brought back such great memories for me...I loved staying with my grandparents when I was little:)

Whit helping Daddy while he works on the ladder
This made me crack up. We were in Costco on the weekend (the day after Papaw --Bret-- babysat her) and I was telling Whit to hurry and hold my hand so we could get out of the way....because you know that place on a weekend. She quietly said, "No mommy I am walking like Papaw." I look at her and sure enough she is holding her hands behind her back just like he does.... :)
Her favorite nighttime routine...reading with Daddy before prayers and bedtime
Whit and mamaw playing after she spent the night -- she did not want me to take her home!
One of her new favorites! She loves standing at the top of the slide while I sit at the bottom to roll a ball up to her. Terrible thing is that she is holding on with her legs or banging them around or something because this has caused some serious bruising on her shins!!!!!
Here is the W she made for me the other night. She said, "Mommy I want to make a grocery list." She came to me with a piece of paper and asked for a pen which delighted me of course:) I later realized, when opening my book, that she had taken out my book mark!!!!! ha!
We busted out the shaving cream but she was not a fan. I think it may have lasted about two minutes haha!
We also spent some time with Mamaw and GG at Jungle Jims. Thank goodness it was not crowded because she loved running around to look at all of the cool things hanging from the ceiling.
