Talking, talking and more talking

Whitney now repeats everything you say, and I mean everything!!  Just the other day she said, "oh goodness" when I did after dropping something on the floor.  We have also noticed that she is using her words to tell us things or ask for something, rather than just babbling.  She will tell us what food she wants to eat, when she wants to eat it and what toys she is going to crawl to get.  Its pretty neat to see her develop like this and be able to communicate with us.  Although nap and bedtime have been rough for us recently, it is so cute because while I'm holding her she will lift up her head and either say "pat pat pat" or rock herself back and forth indicating what she wants me to do while putting her to sleep.  If I don't respond she will do it again.  It just amazes me!!

We are currently going through a sleeping strike and let me tell you, it is taking a toll on all of us!!  She realizes now when the bedtime or nap time routine starts and is beginning to fight it.  Once she is over the initial fight she lets you rock her and get her settled down but then loses it when you lay her down to leave the room.  After researching it and talking with her doctor, we found that it is a common stage that babies go through and it is most likely that she is so stimulated and enjoying playing that she does not want to stop and sleep.  We are at least over crying for long periods of time but still dealing with her getting up every few hours to sit there, talk and call for us.  The other night she sat up in her bed for almost an hour and a half just playing and talking, this started at 1:45 in the morning mind you.  I went in a few times to settle her down but it just proved to upset her even more.  The cutest thing happened though when she was up for that long period of time, she sneezed three times in a row, took out her pacifier and said in her very cute way "blesch you", put her pacifier back in and went back to talking and playing around.  Melted my heart!!!  Miss Whitney just loves to keep us on our toes:)

Just as she knows when it is bedtime she is really starting to pay attention to our daily routines and know that when one thing happens, such and such will follow.  For example when Ryan is upstairs brushing his teeth she hears it and knows that it means he is coming down soon; so she crawls to the bottom of the stairs to wait for him.  Once he is down stairs and holding her, she starts making the "ahhhh" sound and pointing to the kitchen because she knows that he will then go in there to make his coffee, which she refers to as "ahhhh"!!! :)

She is also loving to practice her walking.  She books it around the house with her walker from Aunt Kel and has even started using one hand!  It has been so nice out that Jenny has been taking her up to the bus stop in the wagon.  She likes to walk though and when I was driving down the street I saw her walking with Jenny from the bus stop to Jennys house....and that is quite a long walk.  Jenny said that she would pick her up because she thought surely she was tired but nope she would beg to get back down.  Its great practice and I guess we better take advantage of this unusually warm weather in January!!  Pretty soon Emma and Caroline are going to have Whitney at their heals chasing them around and they aren't going to have a second of alone time!!!

Whitney new favorite game: taking out all of her animals and placing them on the table only to put them back in again and say "bye bye".  She says many of the animals names now too.  She says zebra, giraffe, tiger, monkey, bear and fish.

She also loves sitting in her chair and kicking her legs to pretend she is rocking!

Believe it or not her balloon from Jenny just came down (Roxy chewed through the string and both balloons have been up too high for us to reach since her birthday!!!) and she is loving it!

Balloon again!

She is intensely trying to tie her new shoes

Loves them!

First time drinking milk from a sippy cup.  Dont let this picture fool you, she drank about an ounce and then kept saying "bottle?? bottle??" Needless to say, this is a work in progress!

"Mom, you are kidding right?? Where is my BOTTLE?"

Eating french fries for the very first time at Red Robin

Loving her blueberries.  Since the last post she is devouring finger food -- on her terms though.  She eats oranges, blueberries, any kind of bread, grilled cheese, crackers and noddles!!
