Week full of adventures
Whitney and I had a full week of activities which lent itself nicely to our second week of project socialization. We haven't yet graduated others holding her but she no longer cries when someone looks at her!! One small step for Whitney.....one giant leap in mommy's eyes!!
We were spoiled by her ability to sleep through the night at eight weeks and are now dealing with several hours of wakefulness each night. Perhaps it was meant to happen this way because I am stronger and in a better place than I was at eight weeks. but either way, it isn't fun to be awake for any stretch in the middle of the night. I made the mistake of picking her up a few times in the past weeks when I was exhausted and just wanted her to go to sleep, and inadvertently created a monster. Last night was the first night I did not pick her up and the result was lots of crying and mommy being awake from 1:00-5:00 in the morning. My only hope is that Whitney will get the hint and stay asleep long enough for me to get some quality shut eye!!
Last Saturday Whitney experienced her first trip to Red Robin and loved everyone second of it. She was mesmerized by the lights and colorful pictures everywhere and mommy and daddy loved that her screams of joy were almost inaudible due to the loud/kid friendly atmosphere! It was also exciting because it was the first time she sat up in a high chair at a restaurant as she usually just stays in her high chair. She felt like such a big girl!
Whitney also experienced her first time riding in the front of the cart at Kroger on Tuesday. She usually goes in the basket of the cart and I carefully place groceries all around her car seat, which can be quite challenging at times. She was squealing with delight as she looked around the store as if she had never been there before. I am not kidding when I say that every person we walked past in the store that day stopped to comment on how happy she was.....oh the little things in life!!
On Wednesday Whitney and I met my good friend Soroya and her son Micah at Sharon Woods. My has that place changed! I cannot wait to take Whitney back when she is a little older to enjoy the play area. We took a walk with their dog baby and watched Micah run through the water fountains in his clothes!!!

We spent some of Thursday and Friday at the hospital visiting Great Grandma after her hip replacement surgery. It brought back many memories as we walked to the elevators at Bethesda North. Only 6 short months ago Whitney was born there....my how time flies. Grandma and Grandpa were at the hospital on Friday and enjoyed some fun times with Whitney in the hallway while the nice gentlemen helped clean up the spilled drink that was accidentally knocked over by a person who shall remain nameless:) Grandpa taught her how to blow raspberry's and she loved it so much that she has been doing it non stop since learning how!!
Great Grandma (and Great Grandpa too) enjoyed seeing Whitney laugh and explore the room. Granny is doing well by the way. She was released by her doctor this morning and is now in an extended care facility in West Chester for a week or two until she gets steady enough to go home. Whitney and I plan to visit my Granny several times next week and bring her some Chick-Fil-A...would you believe this chicken finger lover has never tried Chick-Fil-A before?

She is becoming quite the little ham. She brings such joy to my heart every time I'm near her!! It is amazing how much laughter a beautiful little baby can bring to adults!
