Soccer

Image
Both girls are playing soccer this year!  Whit is playing on a club team called Impact.  She practices two times a week and has two games a weekend.  She LOVES it.  Goalie is her position of choice which makes me a nervous wreck haha.  She is good though, her coach even said that she is a WALL in the goal!  Whit even scored her first goal the other weekend and was so so proud.  I missed it because I was at Meredith's game but I know she will do it again.   Meredith only has her soccer on Saturday and they are doing something different with the three and four year olds.  Instead of having games where the kids are all bunched up and have no idea what is going on, they are making each weekend a practice.  The kids get to play fun soccer drill games and learn a lot about how to handle the ball.  She is LOVING it and thinks she is big stuff in her purple uniform.  Her team came up with the name, the Purple Elephants! I...

Easter

Image
Easter was great again this year -- a little cold and wet but we still had fun!  The girls loved dying eggs and think I should have bought way more eggs than I did because it ended too quickly. haha! We celebrated with both sides of the family as usual this year but it was a bit different because Whitney discovered that the Easter Bunny, Santa, etc., is not real.  Its been a long time coming with her though.  She started asking a few months back about the logistics of things and then started to really get bothered by the fact that I was being so vague.  I didn't really know what to say and tried to change the subject but she just wasn't having it.   Eventually, on the way home from Easter with the Skeldons on the day before Easter, she broke down crying and was begging for us to tell her the truth.  I was a nervous wreck because I wasn't sure what the right thing to do was but in the end she was okay with it.  She cried initially when she...

Spring

Image
This spring has been anything but warm or dry but we have managed to find some fun things to do inside.  We did brave the cold to show off Brody (Mamaw and Papaw's dog) at whitneys school during pet show and tell week.  Whit loved answering questions and I think Brody really like the attention too!! During Whit's spring break is where we did the most activities and we sure enjoyed having her home for the week; it gave us a taste of summer and we are really excited to have her home everyday! We did a lot of things with friends but also just three of us.  It is really nice to have two sweet little girls that like to spend time together...well for the most part haha!  We went roller skating, to the butterfly show, parks -- inside and outside, too grandpa out to dinner and even checked out the new library.   BRING ON THE WARMTH is what I have to say though.....it has been way too cold for me and that is saying something because I like to be cold! ...

Girl Scouts

Although our plans were altered due to an impending snow storm, we still had a blast at the cabin.  The plan was to spend the night but the weather had other ideas and with several inches of snow on the ground before morning, we decided against the sleep over and just did a mom and me fun night. We made sit upons, went on a short hike, played games, had a yummy dinner and roasted marshmallows by the campfire!  The girls had a great time and I think we were all thankful to have been sleeping in our own beds that evening, rather than on the floor with 17 loud girls "trying to sleep."
