Pumpkin Patch Fun

Image
Shaw Farm was so much fun last weekend.  The girls had a blast and it was the perfect weather for it.  Whitney loved showing Meredith around to all the fun characters or play sets, they both enjoyed the hay ride and of course picking out the best pumpkin of all.  I love fall and all things that come with it, yes even my dreaded allergies!  I know we still have many more fall fun activities to go before Halloween but this one was a blast so I had to share!

Update on the Girls

Image
Well we are over a month into school and I am happy to report that Whitney had her first morning with all smiles today!!!  Its been a long time coming and even yesterday was not so great but we will take any progress we can get!  Sweet girl is a bundle of worries and really has trouble calming down.  We met with a psychologist a few times to get some strategies to help us when she is struggling so much and they seem to be working. Whitney has a lot of people praying for her and her loving family helping her cope with this hard transition into all day school.  Praying for another good day tomorrow! Speaking of school, once she is there she loves it.  Her teacher, Mrs. Krause, said that she is all smiles and happy when she is there so that is what we like to hear.  She has made some good friends and has learned so much!!  Whit was already writing and starting to read but wow what a difference being in all day school has made.  She read her first P...

Grandparents Day and the St. Columban Fun Run

Image
A few Fridays ago Whitney had such an eventful day!  The morning was filled with fun activities she got to do with both sets of her grandparents while at school.  The afternoon was a fun run that they did to raise money for their school. I was not able to attend the grandparent day festivities but everyone said it was just so much fun!  Both grandparents loved seeing the school and meeting the people that work with Whitney each and every day.  I am sure it will be something all of them remember for a long time, I know it meant so much to Whitney that she was able to have them there with her! The fun run was on  the hottest day of the fall and those kids were feeling it but it didn't stop them from doing any of it.  They loved all the festive music, loud announcers telling them to do fun things and of course the parents/siblings cheering them on.  Meredith and I made a sign for Whitney, we had noise makers and even Mamaw in attendance to see the run...

New Normal

Image
It has been a long month and a half getting used to our new routine but I feel like we are starting to somewhat get the hang on things.  Whit is still struggling with leaving me in the morning and it breaks my heart but I am hopeful that she can power through and somehow make it better in the mornings. While Whit is at school, Meredith and I spend time meeting new friends, playing at parks and just hanging out around the house.  When Whitney get home we try to spend as much time outside as we can, especially since we know that getting out anxious energy is what Whitney needs.  Watching Meredith run to Whit when she gets off the bus is priceless, they miss each other so much all day; but it only takes about twenty mins before they are yelling or fighting about something haha! Our weekend time is for having family fun time and just cuddling on the couch because Whitney says she misses that the most when she is gone.

Homecoming Parade

Image
It has become a tradition to go to the Loveland Homecoming Parade each fall.  The girls love the parade and of course all the candy they get and we love meeting up with good friends and enjoying the nice weather!  This year my mom joined us, and I have to mention that the day the parade landed on this year was my birthday, I know, I know special haha! It was so much fun seeing some people that we know in the parade.  Whit got a kick out of waving to our neighbor Zach and the girl we watch after school, Ava.
