Walk to End Alzheimer's

Image
This year our family participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer's at VOA park.  Alzheimers is such a nasty disease and it was both emotional and encouraging to be there with so many other families dealing with the same issues.  We miss our Granny everyday since the disease has taken her personality and livelihood away from us.  Hopefully someday there will be a cure so that the disease can no longer destroy.....

Zoo

Image
Meredith, Whitney and I went to the zoo this past week with our friend Betsy.  She was kind enough to let us go in on her pass since we don't have one right now.  Meredith has never been and it has been over a year since Whit and I have been there to enjoy the animals. Meredith loved seeing all the different animals and actually spotted them quicker then I thought she would.  I think her favorite one to see was the manatee.  It is huge and you can go right up to the glass so it is kind of hard to miss.   Whit and I loved seeing the giraffes and elephants but it also makes you so sad to see these large animals in the tiny areas and not roaming free.  Whitney even said to me that she thought some of the animals looked sad.  :(. All in all it was a beautiful day at the zoo and we cannot wait until Meredith drops her morning nap so we can start going to fun places like this on a regular basis.

Dress Up

Image
Sometimes it is just too hot to be outside so we find things to do inside that keep up busy.  One of the things we love is dress up.  Meredith has really taking a liking to dressing up and often comes around the corner looking so proud for putting on a necklace or hat.  It isn't often that she is without several necklaces or something on her head.  Whitney likes wearing outfits more then accessories but they both enjoy pretending and going through our huge bin of clothes!

Best Friends

These girls cannot get enough of her each other.  Sure they have their moments when they bug each other or want their space but it has been amazing watching their relationship grow this summer.  They enjoy cuddling every morning, playing together, laughing and doing just about anything that involves each other.   Whitney is an amazing big sister.  She takes care of Meredith so well.  Often times Meredith will hold the fork out for Whitney to take and give her a bite and will not allow me to do it.  She likes for Whitney to cuddle her in the morning or push her on swings and if she ever has something new that she thinks is pretty cool, she has to run right over to Whitney to show her! It will be interesting to see what happens when Whitney starts school three day a week beginning tomorrow.  I think Meredith is going to be looking all over for her...guess Mommy better think of some activities to keep her busy!! ...
