Tybee Island

Image
With our new bundle of joy arriving in July we knew we wouldn't be able to go on our usual Thanksgiving vacation (we could but it wouldn't be easy or very enjoyable for a mom with an infant.....) so we decided to take a trip, just the three of us, before the big "CHANGE"! We've never been to Tybee Island but a co-worker of Ryan's recommended it so we decided to check it out.  Its a small island near Savannah Georgia and also very close to Hilton Head.  It was appealing because it was only a 10 hour drive and with this being Whit's first drive longer then two hours, we knew it was important to stay close!! We have never driven to a vacation before and have always been so limited on luggage due to flying that I was amazed at how much I was able to fit into our new car!!!  Side note: YES, we did get a new car! After much deliberation we decided to join the mini van club!!  We ended up buying at 2014 Toyota Sienna and are IN LOVE with it.  So much smo...

Butterfly Show

Image
What can you do on a snowy day after you just had a weekend with summer like weather???  Go to the Butterfly show of course! Mamaw and GG joined us and we all experienced the butterfly show for first time together.  Upon walking in you get a circle piece of paper that you hold out to catch butterflies,  you are also invited to color these pieces but Whitney was not a fan of that!!  Once inside Mamaw and GG could barely see because the green house like environment turned their glasses into complete fog lenses.  Comical let me tell you :) Whitney didn't know what to think at first with the butterflies fluttering so close to her but she ended up loving.  What beautiful flowers!!! GG wore a very pretty shirt with flowers and butterflies on it and let me tell you, if you are not a fan of butterflies landing on you...you shouldn't wear that type of shirt to a butterfly show!!  She had them landing all over her and one butterfly in particular k...

Its time.....

Or is it? Today is that day that Whitney will no longer use a paci at night.  She has had one paci remaining for awhile now and only uses it when she sleeps at night.  It has been a long time coming because this child does not sleep very well and the thought of making sleep even harder scared me to be honest.   Im sure she would have done well a year ago but as a sleep deprived mother I just couldn't bare it.  The dentist and doctor both said they understood and would do the same thing I was doing in order to keep the peace. BUT I'm over it haha:)  She FINALLY started sleeping through the night last November (yes almost three years old) and has been pretty good since then.  She has her problems sleeping when she had a cold or something but for the most part she has been sleeping well (oh no I shouldn't say that out loud right? ha)  Its time to take the plunge and get rid of the paci!! We've talked with her about it a lot, even gave her...

Zoo Day

Image
We had a perfect day for the zoo and were so very luck to have a pass that let us get in early.  We got there around 9:00 and left at 11:30 which is perfect because by the time we left it was even more crowded then the night we went to the festival of lights! The best part of the day was that all the animals were very active.  Probably because it was so cool that morning!  We had the best time and had almost every exhibit to ourselves for the first hour!  It was like our own private show! We saw an elephant playing with a ball, a monkey that ran up to the window to stare at Whitney and then SLAP the window as hard as he could.  Boy, did we have a good laugh at that one!!  We took a train ride and rode on the merry go round which was so cute because Whitney giggled the entire time.  It was priceless!!  Love these special times that I get to spend with my little girl:)
